SA players selected for the All Africa Badminton Championships

The following team has been selected to represent South Africa at the All Africa Badminton Championships to be held in Mauritius over the period

18 - 24 April 2004:

Men

Chris Dednam (Free State)

Johan Kleingeld (Free State)

Stewart Carson (Boland)

Dorian James (Western Province)

Chris Dednam is the current South African singles champion as well as men’s doubles champion with Johan Kleingeld. Kleingeld is also the South African champion in mixed doubles together with Marika Daubern

Women

Michelle Edwards (Western Province) (Captain)

Chantal Botts (Kwa-Zulu Natal)

Marika Daubern (Northern Gauteng)

Antoinette Uys (Boland)

Michelle Edwards is the South African singles champion as well as women’s doubles champion with Chantall Botts.

The Director of Performance of BSA, Morten Frost, will accompany the team to Mauritius. The Manager of the team is Kalie van Heerden.

The team will also participate in the Mauritius International over the period

14 - 17 April 2004. This tournament carries IBF World Ranking Points, as it falls within the Olympic qualifying period.
