Search for new badminton coach begins

Badminton SA has begun looking for a new director of performance as the current national coach, Morten Frost, will be leaving for his native Denmark when his contract ends on November 30, 2004.

”Badminton SA has seen tremendous development during Morten Frost’s four years as our director of performance,” says Larry Keys, President of Badminton SA.

”In 2003 we won the African Games in Abuja, Nigeria, and we have won the African Championships in both 2002 and 2004. This year we won the African leg of both the Thomas and the Uber Cups, which was played in Africa for the first time. However, our biggest achivement to date was qualifying for the Olympics for the first time ever this year. Of course we are sad to see Morten leave, but we fully support his decision,” he continues.

Morten Frost, who signed a four year contract with Badminton SA in 2000 says:

"My family and I have been very happy during our time in South Africa. It has been very inspirational for me to work with the country's top players - I am very proud of their achievements and the generosity they have shown me”.
